Starting a war in a oil producing country disrupted supply driving up price.
End of story. If Bush doesn't control O.P.E.C., why do people still blame him for fuel prices?
because Bush is the one who said he would ';jawbone the saudi's'; and get them ';open the spigot';
He made the claim that he could and would use his relationship with the Saudi's to lower fuel prices.....
That is why he gets blamed, well that and because he is President.....nobody ever said our populace was realistic or fair, partisan politics only further fuels the idiocy.
Mick, why would a candidate make a promise he knew he couldn't keep? Are we as an electorate not expected to hold them to their word? Why do you blame people for holding a candidate accountable for their own claims?
You're part of the partisan-problem Mick, you think in terms of ';them/us'; we're all ';us'; sir.If Bush doesn't control O.P.E.C., why do people still blame him for fuel prices?
He did not approve drilling when he had control of congress from 2001-2005 but now blames Dem`s because they control congress.
He had a republican congress that rubber stamp his policies for six years, and the increase in the world demand for oil was predictable and predicted, yet he had no energy policy that addressed the problem, and did not even propose expanding off shore drilling until about a month ago. President are blamed for what they did not do that they should have.
His big initiative was to push for hydrogen fuel cell technology which will not help for at least another 10 year, but he loosened gas mileage standards and reduced funding for hybrid technology that would have had short term results.
Because any uncertainty in the oil markets causes the price of oil to go up such as the storms threatening the gulf of mexico this causes uncertainty in oil delivery and with the start of the war in Iraq this caused a lot of uncertainty in the middle east where most of the oil comes from which caused it to go up and since Bush started the illegal war he is to blame for all the consequence of it such as higher oil prices.
Because liberals just wanted someone to blame and its a rarity that people these days do their homework to really find out what is going on. So based on the idea of people that think our government is so wrong and bad and its the devil they figure they would blame the man that they know is closest to the problem, however if they were to look into it they would see that Bush is a tiny spec if that on the back of our oil problem.
Because most people are ignorant. Most people don't really have any grasp on the actually workings of the economy, or oil/gas trading/purchase in general. Just ignore the idiots.
Well, when Exxon posted their annual profits that said that they made only a few BILLION dollars in profits, because of the tax breaks etc ole GW has given them...well I would say that is why. If Exxon can make BILLIONS in profits (that's after their overhead people) then they can afford to LOWER the gas price.
That and the fact that GW is against drilling in the US or releasing the 40 million barrels held in reserve in Texas. Considering that the USA's dependence on foreign oil has nearly tripled since he took office...to me that says he's to blame.
Oil prices have gone up because the middle east has become destabilized threatening the future supply of oil. There is some chance that the war in Iraq will metastasize into a regional war involving Iran. Or that Bush might just attack Iran. The thinking is that if that happens the Straits of Hormuz could be sealed off, cutting off the entire supply of Middle East oil to the whole world. Just the increased possibility of this is enough to drive up futures prices for oil.
Bush is to blame because he invaded Iraq, and also because the war was so badly planned that now we are stuck there, we can't win and we can't quit.
Also in the US it's oil speculators, big investors, who are driving up prices. Bush could do something to stop them, but he won't because he believes they are entitled to make all this money. He believes that their right to drive up prices artificially is more important than our right to reasonably-priced energy. I would say that's Bush's fault, wouldn't you?
because they're ignorant liberals
Bush and his dad have been puppets of the Saudi's for 30 years. Although a puppet doesn't control, it still gets blamed. he didn't have to do business with them, he chose to.
